In an increasingly interdependent and fast-moving global context, politics is stumbling. There is a growing impression that democratic institutions are vulnerable and powerless: democracy is tied to nationstates, which defend the selfish interests of particular territories and communities. Can we imagine a different organization, based on a distribution of decisions among urban, national, regional and global actors?
