He is Professor of Economics at the University of Milan, Distinguished Visiting Faculty at Sciences Po, Paris, Research Fellow at CEPR and Scientific Director of the Luca d’Agliano Study Center. He is president of the Carlo Alberto College Foundation and the National Institute of Molecular Genetics (INGM) “Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi” and vice president of the UniCredit Foundation. He sits on the board of directors of the Pesenti Foundation and the Agnelli Foundation. He is a nonexecutive director of Aon Italia, CheckMab and Fideuram-Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking. He is a columnist for “la Repubblica” and “La Stampa” and from 1995 to 2022 for “Il Sole 24 Ore.” He is also editor of “European Economy. Banking, Regulation, and the Real Estate Sector,” and is a regular commentator on economic issues on RAI and Radio24 national news programs.
