SPARTA, ATHENS, ROME: WAR AND SLAVES IN ANCIENT ECONOMIES

with Luciano Canfora - introduced by Maurizio Assalto
Auditorium Grattacielo Intesa Sanpaolo
June 2, 2023 - 18:00

When considering the economic structures of Classical-era societies, there has often been talk about a “slave mode of production.” At the same time, the strong connection with the problem of labor supply is left in the shade. The Greek miracle and Roman civilization are linked to the supply of labor obtained by the brutal means of military conquest.

Reservations are required for events hosted at the Intesa Sanpaolo Skyscraper Auditorium.
