THE WELFARE STATE AFTER AI: FROM UNCONDITIONAL BASIC INCOME TO LANGUAGE POLICY

The increasing ubiquity of AI impacts the welfare state in many ways. Most salient is the increasing interest in an unconditional basic income, whether as a source of income for the permanently unemployed, as a major contribution to the basic economic security of an exapanding precariate or as a structural facilitator of lifelong learning. But equally relevant is its impact on a crucial yet often neglected aspect of our welfare states in our superdiverse cities: their linguistic regime.
