The lecture analyzes economic coercion, security, and the risk of global fragmentation, examining recent advances in geoeconomic research that range from theoretical models to empirical measurement via sufficient statistics and artificial intelligence. Practical applications focus on the payment system and the semiconductor supply chain. Particular attention is dedicated to Europe’s economic security in the face of the hegemonic competition between the United States and China.
