Biography

Marc Lazar is professor emeritus of history and political sociology at Sciences Po and holder of the BNP-BNL-Paribas Chair “Italian-French Relations for ‘Europe’ at the” Luiss University. He specializes in political parties in Europe, French and Italian politics from 1945 to the present, and populisms. Among his latest books: with Ilvo Diamanti, Peoplocracy. The Metamorphoses of Our Democracies, Laterza, 2019; European Socialists and the State in the Twentieth and the Twenty-First Century, Palgrave, 2020 and Left. Crisis and Challenges of the European Left (end of the Twentieth Century-2020s), 2024.
